Feature film Rift City enters production

The principal photography of a feature film titled Rift City commences this summer under the production house of Kn2s Productions. The upcoming dramatic 90-minute film is written and directed by Krisstian de Lara and produced by Victor Manuel Mares Bersosa. The project is set to be filmed in the border community of El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico with the spoken language in the film ninety percent English and ten percent Spanish.

Rift City tells the story of Oriana, a college student who travels to Juarez to make a documentary about Chuy, a teenager who’s mother has gone missing. However, once she finds her whereabouts, Oriana struggles to come to terms with doing what’s best for her or Chuy.

The project will feature an extraordinarily talented cast from the United States and Mexico, starring Larissa Reyes Arzate as the protagonist, Oriana, Sebastian Tafoya as Chuy, Karla Giselle as Oriana’s best friend Maritza, Ervin River as Chuy’s best friend Doroteo, Doja as Chuy’s antagonist Nestor, and Hector Dez as Oriana’s mentor, Professor Mullins. Hector Dez also comes with an acclaimed repertoire with his most recent participation in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, currently in theaters.

The award winning writer and director de Lara is an up-and-coming filmmaker that has shot films in Texas, South Florida, Mexico and Spain. De Lara’s projects have been featured on Amazon Prime and his most acclaimed short film, Sub Rosa,  has taken rental platform ReelHouse.org by storm, which also received SAG Award recognition. De Lara made his feature film directorial debut with the horror film, Investigation 13 and will debut as a feature film writer with Rift City.

The production will enter 23 days of principal photography and will be filmed on a RED camera. It will be photographed in a widescreen CinemaScope format under the supervision of Director of Photography Alexander Diaz. The production has also received support from Mexican state government Gobierno del Estado de Chihuahua, television network XHIJ Channel 44, and sponsorship from local and national companies such as Dunkin’ Donuts and El Taco Tote. The international effort has also come to fruition thanks to help from Executive Producers Angela Shlyakhov and Martah Alondra Lozano.
